International Freight Project

40' Dry Freight Container  Hi-Cube

Mercy Uganda is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit ministry, and International NGO (Non-Government Organization) that serves women and children, as well as whole communities in Uganda, East Africa.  Mercy Uganda was founded in 2009 and has it’s home base in Panama City, Florida.  We have a board of directors in the U.S., and team members working the field in Uganda.  Our Mission: “Mercy Uganda is a Christian, humanitarian ministry dedicated to working with women and children in Uganda to address spiritual, physical, educational, and economic needs, thereby helping alleviate the causes of poverty and injustice, and providing hope and a future.”

Over the course of our service in Uganda,  the need for supplies, materials, and ministry provisions has become increasingly more necessary. It is difficult to carry many of the needed items to Uganda on our trips due to weight limits, and regulations regarding items that can and cannot be included in either check or carry on luggage.  As a result, and through much research and prayer, we have begun this International Freight Project, which will allow us to purchase a container, fill it with items needed for the ministry, ship it to Uganda, and then transport it to our land, where it will serve as storage for the items, as well as a base for distribution of items as the ministry work is carried out.

The total cost of this project, both in the purchase of the container, and the shipping, is $18,000.00.  It will be delivered to Panama City, Florida, to a location we will have arranged. It is at that location we will begin receiving donations of items listed in this packet.  When the container has received all donations, it will be transported to a port in Jacksonville, Florida, and then begin its ocean trek to Africa. It will arrive at the Port of Mombasa, in Kenya, and be met by team members, and a driver to transport it to Uganda. It is our prayer that churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals will join us in this exciting project both in providing donations, and in help financially to meet the cost of the shipping.  This project will be such a blessing to Mercy Uganda, and to the many people we are ministering to in Uganda.  A list of categories and items needed is below. We have recently received medical equipment and supplies that will be also included in the shipment.  Once the container is filled, it will take approximately 2 months to arrive in Uganda, and will be met by team members there to insure safe delivery to our ministry site.

We are hoping to get the container at the beginning of September.  Since the list is quite extensive we'd love for you to start collecting items and as soon as the container arrives we will let you know.  We will only have a 2-3 week time period to get the container filled and then sent off to Uganda.

Please prayerfully consider how you, or your church, business, or organization can get involved.  This will be a great project for men’s groups, ladies groups, and youth groups to be a part of this effort to provide much needed supplies to Uganda, and to the precious people God has called us to serve there.
Because we are a small non-profit ministry, and the cost of this project is a big one, we ask that, in addition to your donations of items, you will consider helping defray the cost of this shipment with a monetary contribution.
For more information on how to get involved, please contact us at or you may call Laura at 850-896-2373 or Mark at 850-814-0021.

Thank you in advance and may God bless you!
